Susan Morris, event coordinator for the Pink Ribbon Ride and the Antrim County High Tea for Breast Cancer Prevention were each presented with a 2010 Community Health Champion award. The East Jordan Family Health Center’s Board of Directors began an annual tradition of presenting the Community Health Champion award in 2006. This award recognizes those who have dedicated themselves to serving the health care needs of our area.
As a pledge to a friend with breast cancer, Susan Morris has coordinated the annual Pink Ribbon Ride in Charlevoix County for the past 8 years. The June, 2010 event saw record-breaking numbers with more than 250 participants and over $50,000 raised, bringing the total to more than $200,000 over the past 8 years. 85% of the proceeds are used locally in Charlevoix and Emmet counties to promote awareness, fund programs in early detection and education and provide support for women and their families.
