Lisa Peacock, Health Officer, for the health department’s jurisdiction of Antrim, Charlevoix, Emmet and Otsego counties, enthusiastically noted that staff is working through the appointment waiting list.
“Several factors are helping us reach our eligible populations,” she said. “The assurance of a steady allocation of vaccines has allowed us to offer more clinics in each of our counties. In addition, more providers have come on board and are serving some of our same population. We know there are still vulnerable senior populations in some pockets of our counties, and we are focusing outreach efforts to reach them,” Peacock said.
Due to the additional providers eligible to receive and administer vaccine in the region, the health department announced today availability of appointments for seniors 65 and older who live or work in Antrim, Charlevoix, Emmet and Otsego counties at clinics in all four counties. To make an appointment this week or next to receive your first dose vaccination, call 800-432-4121. Although there is no charge for the COVID-19 vaccine, please have your insurance card(s) ready to schedule or register for an appointment.
“Based on census data, we know there are seniors 65+ who are on our waiting list who haven’t signed up to receive the vaccine or our staff may have had trouble reaching them, so we want to make it easier to schedule by calling our 800 number,” Peacock said.
