The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

What is TEFAP?
The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a Federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income Americans, including seniors, by providing them with emergency food assistance at no cost.

Who is eligible to get food?
Households that meet State eligibility criteria may receive food for home use. States set income standards, which may, at the State’s discretion, be met through participation in other existing Federal, State, or local food, health, or welfare programs for which eligibility is based on income. States can adjust eligibility criteria to ensure that assistance is provided only to those households most in need.

What foods are available through TEFAP?
The types of foods USDA purchases for TEFAP vary depending on the preferences of States and on agricultural market conditions. More than 120 nutritious, high-quality products are available.
Products include: canned, frozen, dried, and fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, meat, poultry, fish, nuts, milk and cheese, and whole-grain and enriched grain products including rice, cereal, and pasta.

The Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Center is experiencing issues with our internet systems. This has also impacted our East Jordan location phone systems. We are working to resolve this issue with Charter. Thank you for your patience.

The Patient Portal will be unavailable October 18-20, 2024 due to scheduled maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience.
