Cervical Cancer Awareness

Cervical cancer can often be prevented or found early through regular screening. The CDC recommends that individuals with a cervix begin screening at age 21 using a Pap test, HPV test, or a combination of both, depending on age and health history.

Screening helps detect cell changes before they turn into cancer or catch cancer early when it is easier to treat.

CDC Screening Guidelines:

  • Ages 21–29: Pap test every 3 years if results are normal
  • Ages 30–65: HPV test alone, Pap test alone, or HPV + Pap test (talk with your provider about what’s right for you)
  • Age 65+: Some individuals may be able to stop screening if prior results were normal

Even if you’ve received the HPV vaccine, regular screening is still important.

If cost or insurance is a concern, low-cost or free screening options may be available.
