East Jordan, MI. Telehealth technology is critical more than ever to help Michigan residents have access to healthcare, especially during the COVID-19 public health emergency. The Michigan Health Endowment Fund fast tracked a total of $3 million grant dollars to 61 Michigan organizations to ramp up their remote care efforts. East Jordan Family Health Center is proud to announce they received a $50,000 grant to provide telehealth services through this grant fund.
“Increasing access to health care is our core mission at Blue Cross. We are proud to join forces and help equip safety net providers with the resources they will need to provide quality care during this pandemic,” said Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan president and CEO Dan Loepp. “Now, perhaps more than ever before, Michiganders need safe access to their doctors.” Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is one of several Health Fund collaborators including Ethel and James Flinn Foundation, the Metro Health Foundation, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation.
The East Jordan Family Health Center plans to upgrade their telehealth capacity with new software and iPads for providers; upgrade the organization’s network to provide HIPAA compliant telehealth visits; and train staff and providers on the software implementation. Introducing telehealth to the health center’s patients will provide a virtual care option for those needing care during the COVID-19 health emergency and into the future when transportation and accessibility issues arise.
