Update from EJFHC – Coronavirus

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

At Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Centers, we are closely monitoring developments around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In order to protect our patients and staff, we want to provide you with helpful information and resources to keep you and our community safe.

COVID-19 is caused by a new respiratory virus. In December 2019, the virus began circulating in humans. Health experts are concerned because little is known about this new virus and it has the potential to cause severe illness and pneumonia. Reported illnesses thus far have ranged from mild symptoms to severe illness and death.

Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Center is requesting anyone who is ill or experiencing respiratory symptoms to call their healthcare provider at their designated facility before seeking care.

Please call at Bellaire 231-533-8649 or East Jordan 231-536-2206.

Symptoms of coronavirus may appear in as little as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure to the virus.

Symptoms include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of Breath

Prevention is KEY and Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Center is working to limit the spread of illness through:

  • Continuous, thorough cleaning and sanitizing of exam rooms, lobbies and frequently touched surfaces at all facilities.
  • Having masks available for the appropriate patient and/or visitor, hand sanitizer and tissues available.
  • Easy to read patient information posted on our website and on location during and after visits

WHAT YOU CAN DO: Everyone can help prevent the spread of coronavirus and other infectious diseases by practicing everyday prevention measures like frequent hand washing for at least 20 seconds, staying home when sick and covering coughs and sneezes with the crock of the elbow, and not touching the eyes, mouth or the nose.

MDHHS Coronavirus Hotline

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) launched a public hotline to answer health-related COVID-19 questions. The hotline will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1-888-535-6136.

Stop the spread of germs

The Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Center is experiencing issues with our internet systems. This has also impacted our East Jordan location phone systems. We are working to resolve this issue with Charter. Thank you for your patience.

The Patient Portal will be unavailable October 18-20, 2024 due to scheduled maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience.
