“As we know mental health and physical health go hand in hand. Learning to be mindful is typically the first step in therapy. Understanding who we are and why we do what we do is hard to do when we live in such a high paced society where we are on the go constantly. Mindfulness slows our mind down to process what is happening around us and within us. A lot of times we can bottle stuff up and can physically feel it within our body. For me I tend to hold my emotions in my chest towards the bottom of my rib cage and even in between my shoulder blades. This practice can help you to develop self-control and self-soothing skills by shifting from experiencing to observing and then to a state of calmness.”
